9th Spell - Video

Petrificus Totalus!

[Luna, shooting off a spell wildly with her wand, is standing in the Menagerie. She gives a startled cry as a flying snake whizzes past her head and tries to take a bite out of her hair. Luna turns around and strikes it with a spell that shoots fire. It squeals and bolts off.

But now two more are coming, and there's a thunk, thunk sound as a huge robot starts lumbering its way towards the distracted witch]

Stupefy!

[That got two more down. Luna sees the robot, and stares up at it, a little too shocked to run]

[Katniss just got to the mezzanine when she heard the startled cry on her communicator. She doesn't even have time to catch her breath when she reaches for it.

When she realizes who's in trouble, she doesn't even hesitate before turning her own video on. She hates this thing, but she doesn't care if she's broadcasting when someone's in trouble.]

Luna? Where are you?

[whatthewrackspurt]

Stupefy!

[Again with the shouting and the wand waving. Luna gives a brief glance to her communicator]

Third floor, I think! Do you count the ground floor as the first or the zeroth floor?

[mockinjay]

[She has absolutely no idea what she's doing. Or what she's talking about first or zeroth. There's only one 'country' in Panem. No cultural differences like that.

So she ignores the questions as she takes off running.]

Just distract it, I'm on my way!

[whatthewrackspurt]

[She gives a startled yelp as her hair is pulled so violently that she's knocked to the ground, her tooth cutting into her lip. Luna goes to answer, but her communicator skids out of reach and under a bookshelf.

From there, running]

[mockinjay]

Luna!

[Katniss calls out but she doesn't answer, so she just shuts down her connection, slides her communicator into her suit's pocket and runs.

She makes it to the room a few moments later. At least, it looks about the same as the video.]

Luna!

[backed into a corner of the library, Luna's made a hiding hole for herself by using a rolling cart as shelter. Her wand is striking the snakes, but it's just encouraging more to come after her as she yells and casts spell after spell]

[mockinjay]

[She hears her yelling her nonsense, so a second later, she does find her. And then she runs in her direction, arrows already flying at the snakes.]

Luna!

[whatthewrackspurt]

[excuse you, Katniss, these are highly efficient spells. except for the ones that sound like spaghetti sauce]

Protego!

[Her blonde head looks up as Katniss nears her, breaking out in a dazed, surprised grin]

Oh. Well, that's lucky.

[mockinjay]

[She's alive and that helps Katniss a lot. As soon as she spots Luna, she rushes toward her.]

Are you hurt?

[whatthewrackspurt]

Just bruised, I think.

[She looks worriedly up at the ceiling where the snakes hover threateningly]

We should leave soon though, I think. They look upset.

[mockinjay]

[Katniss looks up, too. Not hesitating before shooting an arrow at the snake that's closes to them, and then she turns to Luna and holds out her hand.]

Let's go. I heard the library is safe.

[whatthewrackspurt]

[Luna, surprised but pleased, takes Katniss' hand]

I was there earlier. Snakes are there too.

You wouldn't happen to be part centaur, would you? They're excellent at archery.

[mockinjay]

[Katniss looks very confused at the question, but simply shakes her head in response as she leads Luna out of the room.]

What were you saying to the snakes?

[She wanders after Katniss, brushing down her wild hair]

I was shouting spells at them. I'm a witch. Don't they have those where you come from?

[mockinjay]

[She's heard of witches, but mostly in silly stories people told children. And Katniss never paid attention to those. So she shakes her head.]

No. Not real ones.

[whatthewrackspurt]

[Luna nods, a little disappointed]

Right. And you might not know if we actually did exist. Statutes of Secrecy and all.

[mockinjay]

[Katniss doesn't know what she's talking about half the time, but it doesn't matter, she's more worried about keeping an out on their surroundings.]

Let's get you somewhere safe.
