Hello, everyone.

I've never been on a ship like this before. Or any ship, really, so I can't say for certain whether the person in charge is always so elusive when it comes to answering questions. I suspect he thinks it's all in good fun, making you believe one thing but telling you another. I don't think I understand his humor, though.

I'm a little concerned about having made a deal with him - he could be one of the Rotfang conspirators in disguise and is set on prolonging this journey indefinitely until all our worlds are nothing but dust and spores.

Is that why all of you are having such strange dreams?

Either way, I hope there's pudding involved. It makes death seem just a little bit cheerier. I think that's why people eat so much at funerals.

Ghosts must get very jealous during mealtimes.

Well, I am human, and I do practice magic. So maybe like a druid, although I think that term is a little outdated.

Is that what they call witches in your world? Druids?

Oh, we call them lots of things. Depends on their magic an' such, where they got it, and all that.

Well, yeah. Fae's got their own type of magic, inborn like.

You could be a pixie who's very good at disguising themselves. But no; maybe not.

As in 'mesmorize'? You hypnotize people?

Not exactly. These days I ain't doing shite, seeing as the Admiral stole my magic away.

But he's going to give it back once you graduate.

The Admiral's very powerful about magic. Has anyone ever escaped before?

Nobody the wardens will admit to. Doesn't mean there ain't a first time for everything.

That's sort of dangerous, isn't it? Your escaping without properly coming back to life?

I hope so. I'd hate for you to have to go through the whole trouble of escaping only to find yourself stuck in a worse place than this.
